What’s New
From the search screen to the results list, from the dictionary page to the Word Solver: what the new version brings.
With LexiQamus 3.0 every screen of the tool has been redesigned. Below are the highlights of the new version; each is explained in detail in the User Guide (currently in Turkish).
Search
Two ways to search
The Search tab looks up a word you can read; the Word Solver identifies a word you cannot read, starting from the clues you have.
In the guideA search box in two scripts
Type the word in Latin letters in one half of the box, or in Ottoman letters in the other.
In the guideSearch within English definitions
With ENG selected, the search runs inside the English definitions of the dictionaries; every entry whose definition contains the English word is listed.
In the guideOttoman on-screen keyboard
Click the letters to type, or use your own keyboard with the equivalents printed on the keys.
In the guideChoice of dictionaries
Search across all dictionaries, or limit the search to the works you pick from the list.

Results with their sources
The list opens with how many records were found and how many dictionaries and volumes were scanned; each row shows the dictionary and page number the record comes from.
In the guideSearch by spelling
The likely spellings and readings of what you typed appear as buttons. These are not guesses; they are data entered while digitizing the dictionaries.
In the guideWord categories
Every result is labeled Headword, Subentry or Related; the colored bar on the left of the row marks the same distinction.
In the guideEditor-approved readings
You can see which Latin readings were approved by editors and which were generated automatically; mark a reading as Correct or report a correction.
In the guideTwo click zones
The left side of a row takes you to where the word occurs, the right side to the start of the entry; clicking a word in the row searches it in a new tab.
In the guideReady-made citations
The citation for every record is copied with one click in APA, Chicago and Harvard styles.
In the guideScan Similar Matches
If you cannot find what you searched for, words close to your spelling letter by letter appear as a numbered list.

The dictionary as an image
The entry opens on the original scan of the dictionary. Digitized words sit in colored boxes; hover to see the Ottoman spelling and the reading, click to start a new search.
In the guideSlice, column and page
View the entry on its own, with its whole column, or with the whole page; use the arrows to move through the dictionary entry by entry, column by column or page by page.
In the guideError reporting
Every digitized word has a warning sign next to it; when you spot an error, report it from there.
In the guideWord Solver
Basic and advanced keyboard
The basic keyboard is enough for every search; the advanced keyboard offers every written form of the letters and the zero-width character on separate keys.
In the guideTyping with your own keyboard
You do not have to click the keys; you can also type the letters straight into the boxes with your own keyboard.
In the guideSolver results
The Solver’s results come in the new layout too. Thanks to the digital dictionary ecosystem we built in BuildLQ, records are grouped under headings that run from the root to phrases, from the simplest form to the broadest; the rows behave just like those in the Search tab.
